Swedish has two common ways to talk about the future, and they aren't interchangeable:

Expression Used for Example
ska + infinitive A plan, intention, decision, or promise — something decided in advance, usually within the subject's control. Jag ska resa till Spanien i sommar.
kommer att + infinitive A prediction or expectation based on evidence or reasoning — something that will happen regardless of anyone's will, often outside the subject's control. Det kommer att regna imorgon.

Quick test: did someone decide this is going to happen (a plan, promise, or arrangement)? Use ska. Are you predicting it from evidence, or is it inevitable and outside anyone's control (weather, natural processes, someone else's likely reaction)? Use kommer att.

Both can sometimes describe the same event from a different angle — "Jag ska bli sjuk" would sound odd (you don't decide to get sick), while "Jag kommer att bli sjuk" (I'm going to get sick, e.g. based on symptoms) is natural.

Ska vs. Kommer Att
